A plant that consumes one tonne per day on average may use much more during a particular production campaign or upset. Reorder points should protect against realistic peaks, especially when the chemical is imported or has a long lead time.

The goal is compliant and process-suitable effluent at controlled cost. Chemical price, dose, sludge, conductivity, storage and dosing reliability all contribute to that result.
